the two hats

Leading from above
the line.

Most entrepreneurs wear two hats without realizing it: the owner hat and the operator hat. We own the business, and we also sit in one or more seats on the Accountability Chart running it. When those two roles blur, partnerships get strained, teams get stuck, and freedom slips further away.

That's why my partner Tyler Smith and I built the Owner's Box, a simple framework grounded in EOS that helps owners separate the two and lead from where they belong: above the hard line that separates ownership from the Accountability Chart.

The Framework

WHAT is the owner’s box?

In a healthy business, owners have a clear, defined role. They share in the profits, they vote on the decisions that matter most, and they hold the vision. Everything else belongs to the leadership team.

When that line gets blurry, owners end up carrying weight that was never theirs to carry. The Owner's Box gives partners and family business leaders clear rules of the game. It draws on tools the EOS world already trusts, so owners can align with each other, empower the people running the business, and live the life they built it for.

the inflection point

why it matters.

Many of the leadership teams I work with as an EOS Implementer don't come to me with a people problem or a process problem. They come with an ownership problem: partners who aren't aligned, a founder handing things off to the next generation, a Visionary who hasn't figured out where they fit anymore. The Owner's Box meets owners right there, at the inflection point where the business needs its owners to lead differently.

THE partnership

tyler & me.

Tyler and I built the Owner's Box as partners, and that's how we teach it. Between us, we've spent years in the room with owners working through the hardest conversations partnerships face. Our goal is to keep it simple, give it away freely, and help more entrepreneurs experience the freedom that comes from truly owning their business.
